By supporting community programmes and initiatives, ASB is helping to make a difference to New Zealand.
Youthline is an organisation dedicated to supporting young people aged 12-24 years, throughout New Zealand. It offers a free Helpline service (via text, phone, webchat & email), face-to-face counselling services and youth mentoring programmes in schools and communities to help young people grow and develop.
ASB is committed to supporting the next generation to live life one step ahead. As Youthline’s Principal Partner, ASB wants all young people to know that it’s okay to seek help, and that Youthline is available to offer support for free.
ASB and Hato Hone St John have been in partnership since 2008, with ASB staff volunteering on Area Committees for Hato Hone St John, as Caring Callers, and providing help with fundraising. All ASB branches are equipped with an AED (Automatic Heart Defibrillator) and have AED-trained staff ready to help, should the need arise. Another such partnership is ASB St John in Schools – a first aid programme which teaches Kiwi kids essential life-saving skills, giving them the confidence to take action in an emergency. Through this programme ASB has assisted in teaching over 1 million New Zealand children basic first aid skills.
KidsCan is a charitable organisation dedicated to ensuring that all children have the opportunity to learn, regardless of their family circumstances. They work with schools to break the cycle of hardship, providing food and essential items to kids in need, so they can focus on learning. ASB is proud to support 854 KidsCan partner schools and 112 Early Childhood Centres through KidsCan’s food and volunteering programmes.
New Zealand Red Cross improves the lives of people both here in Aotearoa New Zealand and overseas through their humanitarian work. New Zealand Red Cross is focused on preparing for and responding to disasters and emergencies, supporting refugees as they rebuild their lives, and providing community services such as delivering Meals on Wheels.
ASB has committed to helping Aotearoa New Zealand prepare for, manage, and recover from disasters by becoming a Red Cross Disaster Response Alliance partner. As an Alliance partner, ASB is supporting New Zealand Red Cross specialist teams, so that they can be ready to respond at a moment’s notice during an emergency.
ASB is proud to be a partner of Cyber Skills Aotearoa, a collaborative initiative between the New Zealand Government and industry.
Cyber Skills Aotearoa will provide classroom-ready challenges that develop students' cyber security skills while empowering teachers to bring cyber security curriculum into their classrooms. It is hoped the programme will empower students to consider further education and careers in cyber security. ASB will work with industry partners on the development of the curriculum to ensure it incorporates authentic examples of security scenarios and the materials developed provide best-practice advice and skills.
